MailVeil — Email Alias Service

Getting Started

What is MailVeil?

MailVeil is an email alias service for the Nostr ecosystem. It lets you create disposable email addresses that forward to your real inbox, keeping your actual email private.

How do I sign in?

MailVeil uses Nostr for authentication. You'll need a Nostr browser extension (NIP-07 signer) to log in. No passwords or email verification required.

Which browser extensions work?

Any NIP-07-compatible extension works, including:

  • **Alby** (browser extension)
  • **nos2x**
  • **Flamingo**
  • **Nostr Connect**-compatible signers
  • Aliases

    How do aliases work?

When you create an alias, emails sent to that alias address are forwarded to your destination email. The sender never sees your real address.

Can I choose my own alias name?

Free users get randomly-generated alias names. Pro users can create custom alias names.

How many aliases can I have?

  • **Free:** Up to 5 aliases
  • **Pro:** Up to 1,000 aliases
  • Can I change where an alias forwards to?

Yes. You can update the destination email for any alias from your dashboard at any time.

    Replies

Can I reply from my alias?

Yes. MailVeil supports reply-from-alias so the recipient sees the alias address, not your real email.

    Are there limits on replies?

There are daily sending limits to prevent abuse. Your current limits are shown on your dashboard.

    Payments

How do I pay for Pro?

MailVeil accepts Bitcoin Lightning payments. You can upgrade from the Pricing page.

    How much does Pro cost?

    25,000 sats per year.

    Can I get a refund?

Due to the nature of cryptocurrency payments and digital services, all sales are final. See our Terms of Service for details.

    Privacy & Security

    What is Zero-Knowledge mode?

When enabled, MailVeil does not log any email content or metadata beyond what's needed for immediate forwarding. You can enable it from the Privacy settings.

    What data does MailVeil store?

  • Your Nostr public key (for authentication)
  • Your alias addresses and destination emails
  • Payment records (required by UK law)
  • In Debug mode: email metadata for 30 days
  • In Zero-Knowledge mode: no email logs
  • What is NIP-05 verification?

MailVeil aliases can double as NIP-05 Nostr verification addresses, letting you prove your identity on Nostr using your alias.

    Browser Extension

What does the browser extension do?

The MailVeil browser extension lets you quickly generate new aliases from any website's sign-up form without opening the MailVeil dashboard.

    Where can I get it?

The browser extension is available for Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Brave, Edge) from the Chrome Web Store.
